How to hire books for your reading group
BookTalk has an extensive and growing list of contemporary titles available for hire. Usually a maximum of 13 or 14 copies can be provided, and a minimum of 6. If you want 6 copies, you only pay for 6 copies, not a full set of 14. The hire cost is $5 per copy. An extensive catalogue of titles available for hire, with summaries of the books, is provided to groups on sign-up.

Background information and study notes on the books
BookTalk supplies notes and discussion starters for every title hired by your group, at no extra cost. The notes include reviews, information about the title and the author, excerpts from author interviews where available, and Discussion Starters, a series of questions designed to stimulate discussion.

Advice on books to read
BookTalk can offer advice specific to the needs of your group. This includes choice of titles by genre e.g. best of British, contemporary Australian, North American authors, popular biographies, etc.

How to start a reading group
BookTalk can provide a start-up kit for your group. A two page introduction of "dos and don'ts" and generally helpful advice helps in establishing your club. Alternatively we will come and talk to your group about the pros and cons of setting up a club and will provide ongoing advice about the selection of titles if required. For talks outside the Perth metropolitan area, additional charges may be required to cover travel and/or accommodation costs.

New books for your reading group
BookTalk adds to the range of books available to hire throughout the year, then issues a new catalogue in October.

Talks about setting up a club or getting the best out of your reading.
BookTalk can arrange this at no cost to your group if you meet in the Perth metropolitan area. For talks and workshops outside the Perth metropolitan area, additional charges may be required to cover travel and/or accommodation costs.

Online discussion with other book club members
BookTalk has an online discussion group for BookTalk book club members and potential members who want to discuss books and reading.
Click here for information or booktalkoz@yahoogroups.com.au to participate.

What if we want a title which is not in your catalogue?
We are adding to the collection every month. Just let us know booktalk@westnet.com.au if you want a particular title. We will usually be willing/able to buy it for your group if it is still in print in paperback and if we think other clubs would be interested.

Can we keep the Notes for Reading Groups?
The Notes are returned with the books. If the Notes are in good condition we will reuse them as this helps us to keep down our costs. However, if you particularly want to keep them, please do so.
Please note that for copyright reasons, you should not photocopy the Notes, nor use them for any other purpose.
